Dear Rutgers University Colleagues:

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, and the Coalition of Rutgers Unions would like to share with members of the Rutgers community an important resource supporting contact tracing in the state.

The State of New Jersey, working in conjunction with New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and other states, has developed a mobile app that anonymously alerts users if they have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. This is separate and apart from the university’s My Campus Pass app. All members of the Rutgers community have a shared responsibility for staying safe and healthy, and COVID Alert NJ – a free and secure mobile app – is another tool that can be used in the fight against the coronavirus.

New Jersey has developed a number of resources describing the benefits of this app. We are pleased to continue to work with the State in critical public health initiatives like COVID Alert NJ.

Use of the app is voluntary, but every person who downloads the app contributes to keeping our communities and families safe by supporting effective contact tracing in the region.
