Dear Rutgers Colleagues,

We are writing today with an important update to the Influenza Immunization Policy, now referred to as the Immunization Policy for Covered Individuals (Policy 100.3.1). To protect ourselves, the ones we care for, and our community, Rutgers University has added immunization against COVID-19 to the list of required immunizations for all Covered Individuals (defined below). Vaccines are a critical tool that help offer us the safest environment possible as we move forward into a new normal during the global pandemic.

All Covered Individuals are now required to upload their COVID-19 vaccination record(s) to the Rutgers Vaccination Portal by August 1, 2021, unless they have a Rutgers-approved medical or religious exemption.

A “Covered Individual” includes Health Care Personnel and Public Safety Personnel as defined in Policy 100.3.1. Please review Policy 100.3.1 to determine if the Policy applies to you and consult the FAQs on the vaccine webpage for additional information. Consistent with its longstanding compliance provision, any Covered Individual who fails to comply with this expanded Policy will be subject to discipline, up to and including termination of employment.

Those still in need of vaccination may schedule an appointment at one of Rutgers’ on-campus vaccination clinics via the Rutgers Vaccination Portal. Appointment scheduling assistance is available upon request via the Rutgers Vaccine Scheduling Assistance Program.

Thank you for your continued support as we work together to protect the health of our community.

Wishing you good health,
