EPSLA and E-FMLA Reminder
September 28, 2020
Dear Colleagues:
As a reminder, Emergency Paid Sick Leave Act (“EPSLA”) and Emergency Family and Medical Leave Expansion Act (“E-FMLA”) provisions of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (“FFCRA”) provide for COVID-19 related paid leave through December 31, 2020. We encourage you to visit FAQs – EPSLA and E-FMLA to determine whether you are eligible. Employees wishing to apply should submit their requests through the OneSource Portal. In addition, please note the following important information:
In order to apply to EPSLA or E-FMLA, you must confirm that you have an active work schedule. You will be asked to confirm your work schedule and will be required to provide your standard work schedule for the days that will be charged against your EPSLA and/or E-FMLA entitlement.
You may take EPSLA and/or E-FMLA intermittently for full day increments only.
All EPSLA and E-FMLA requests that meet the eligibility criteria will be approved subject to submission of appropriate documentation to OneSource. If the necessary documentation is not received, the employee will be required to charge paid leave time in accordance with university policy/corresponding appropriate negotiated labor agreement.
We continue to urge all supervisors to work with employees to allow for flexible telecommuting workplans, flexible work schedules, and split shift agreements where operationally feasible.
If you need further assistance, please contact OneSource Rutgers Faculty and Staff Service Center at 732-745-SERV (7378) or at OneSource@rutgers.edu.
Sincerely,
Vivian Fernández
