Dear Faculty, Staff, and Students:

If you are a paid or unpaid person serving in a health care setting who has the potential for direct or indirect exposure to patients or infectious materials, you are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine now as part of phase 1A of the state’s COVID-19 vaccination campaign. Examples of eligible people include, but are not limited to:

  • licensed health care professionals such as doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and dentists
  • staff such as receptionists, janitors, mortuary services, and laboratory technicians
  • consultants, per diem, and contractors who are not directly employed by the facility
  • unpaid workers such as health professional students, trainees, volunteers, and essential caregivers
  • community health workers, doulas, and public health professionals such as Medical Reserve Corps
  • personnel with variable venues such as EMS, paramedics, funeral staff, and autopsy workers
  • other paid or unpaid people who work in a health care setting who may have direct or indirect contact with infectious persons or materials and who cannot work from home

Please find information from the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH), including a letter from Health Commissioner Judith Persichilli, a fact sheet with additional information about the vaccine, and a current list of New Jersey vaccine sites. If you are eligible for Phase 1A vaccination as described above, please pay attention to this. If you have already registered with one of our hospital partners to receive the vaccine (most of you probably have), please disregard this message. If you do not know that you are already registered with our hospital partners to receive the vaccine when your turn arises, please contact one of the places listed in the attachment to reserve your slot very soon.

Sincerely,

Brian L Strom, MD, MPH
