Dear Rutgers University–Newark Community:

Below are a list of campus resources available to students, faculty, and staff during Spring Break and while classes are meeting virtually until April 3, 2020.

Paul Robeson Campus Center

Effective March 12, 2020 through April 3, 2020, the Paul Robeson Campus Center will be open Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m.; closed Saturday and Sunday.

  • The Game Room will be open Monday–Friday 11:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.; closed Saturday and Sunday. Maximum capacity of 15 people.
  • Rooms 224, 227, 234 will remain available for small meetings of 15 people or less. Please call 973-353-5568 or email the Office of Reservations & Special Events at resv@newark.rutgers.edu to book a space. All other event spaces will be unavailable.
15 Washington

Effective March 12, 2020 through April 3, 2020, the Office of Reservations & Special Events will have staff on site Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m.

  • Clement’s Place is closed from March 10, 2020 through April 15, 2020.
  • Rooms 126, 128, 129, 203 will remain available for small meetings of 15 people or less. Please call 973-353-5568 or email the Office of Reservations & Special Events at resv@newark.rutgers.edu to book a space.  All other events spaces will be unavailable.
Dana Library

Effective March 12, 2020 through March 22, 2020, the Dana Library will be open Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–6 p.m.; closed Saturday and Sunday. A determination regarding hours of operation from March 23, 2020 through April 3, 2020 will be made late next week. pantryRUN

pantryRUN (located in Room 226 of the Paul Robeson Campus Center):

Hours of operation:

  • Thursday, March 12: 1–4 p.m.
  • Friday, March 13: 1–3 p.m.
  • Monday, March 16: 1– 4 p.m.
  • Wednesday, March 18: 1–4 p.m.
  • Monday, March 23 through Thursday, March 26: 1–4 p.m.
  • Monday, March 30 through Thursday, April 2: 1–4 p.m.
Golden Dome

Effective March 12, 2020 through April 3, 2020, the Golden Dome will be open during normal business hours for the basketball, racquetball, and tennis courts. The fitness center and pool are closed during this time.

Hours of operation:

  • Monday through Thursday: 7 a.m.–11 p.m.
  • Friday: 7 a.m.–6:45 p.m.
  • Saturday: 9 a.m.–3 p.m.
  • Sunday: 4 p.m.–9:45 p.m.
School of Public Affairs and Administration (SPAA)

The SPAA Student Success Center on the 1st Floor of the Center for Urban and Public Service (CPS) has a lounge space and work stations available to all students Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–6 p.m.

Center for Law and Justice

Study rooms are available to all students in the East Wing, 5th floor of the Center for Law and Justice (CLJ), Monday–Saturday, 8:30 a.m.–6 p.m. As of March 12, 2020 we are restricting the space to no more than 15 people until further notice. There are sofas and tables set up in the East Wing for students to use as well as a snack room with free coffee for students.  If you need to reserve a room, please contact Susan Alber, Administrative Assistant, at 973-353-3311 or by email at susan.alber@rutgers.edu.

School of Arts & Sciences–Newark

The first floor of Hill Hall (next to the elevators) has a lounge space and copier available to all students during regular building hours.

Dining Services

Effective March 13, 2020 through March 20, 2020, Dining Services will be operating on reduced hours for Spring Break. A determination regarding hours of operation from March 23, 2020 through April 3, 2020 will be made late next week.

  • Friday, March 13: All retail locations close at 3 p.m.  Stonsby Commons closes at 7 p.m.
  • Saturday, March 14 and Sunday, March 15: All dining locations are closed.
  • Monday, March 16 through Friday, March 20:
    • Starbucks PRCC: 8 a.m.–2 p.m.
    • Starbucks, 1 Washington Park: 8 a.m.–2 p.m.
    • JBJ Soul Kitchen: 11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m.
    • All other dining locations are closed.
  • Saturday, March 21: All dining locations are closed.
  • Sunday, March 22:
    • Stonsby Commons is open from 4–8 p.m.; meal plan begins at 4 p.m.
    • All other dining locations are closed.
